Sustainability
Environmental, Sustainability & Compliance Policy — Version 1.0, September 2026
1. Our Commitment
Flexhouse is committed to conducting its business and managing its supply chain in accordance with high environmental, sustainability, and product-compliance standards.
As a production and supply-chain partner operating across European and international markets, we recognize that our responsibility extends beyond the finished product. It encompasses material sourcing, manufacturing processes, packaging design, documentation, logistics, and total supply-chain transparency.
Our objective is to meet all applicable environmental regulations while continuously improving the environmental performance, material traceability, and footprint of our products.
2. Responsible Supply Chain Management
Flexhouse works with an established network of European manufacturing and material partners. Regulatory and environmental compliance forms an integral part of our supplier evaluation process.
Our supply chain is reviewed on a regular basis, with focused attention on:
- Compliance with applicable EU and international product regulations.
- Validity and availability of required material certificates and declarations.
- Origin and full traceability of key raw materials.
- Chemical compliance and restricted substances (e.g., REACH, TSCA, California Proposition 65).
- Packaging waste reduction and transport efficiency.
Where documentation gaps are identified, Flexhouse works directly with suppliers to implement corrective actions or secure compliant material alternatives. We believe that environmental claims must always be backed by verifiable documentation.
3. Responsible Material Sourcing & FSC Certification
Wood and timber-derived materials represent a core part of our engineering portfolio. Flexhouse prioritizes responsible forestry practices and supply-chain transparency:
- FSC Certification: We partner with certified material producers and evaluate FSC implementation on a per-product and per-collection basis to meet specific client requirements.
- Traceability: We maintain active records regarding species, country of harvest, and chain-of-custody documentation.
- Alternative Materials: Where certified, recycled, or lower-impact alternatives are technically and commercially feasible, we actively integrate them during product engineering.
4. Recycled Content & Product-Level Transparency
Due to the technical diversity of our portfolio (combining solid wood, engineered timber, structural metals, and upholstery), Flexhouse does not apply a blanket recycled-percentage claim across all operations.
Instead, we provide product-specific recycled content evaluations based on:
- Detailed Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Upstream supplier material declarations.
- Verifiable physical testing and certificates.
Our goal is to provide our partners with precise, auditable product data rather than generalized green marketing claims.
5. Practical Sustainability Initiatives in Action
At Flexhouse, sustainability is defined by concrete daily actions rather than paper promises. We actively implement practical circular-economy measures within our community:
- Material Upcycling & Local Community Support: Industrial textile and felt offcuts from our manufacturing lines are systematically collected and donated to Primary School No. 361 (Szkoła Podstawowa Nr 361 im. Papcia Chmiela) in Warsaw. Students reuse these high-quality leftovers in technical and sewing classes to create cushions, slippers, and crafts, giving production waste a second life while supporting local education.
- Durable & Reusable Alternatives Initiative: To reduce single-use plastic and disposable bag waste, Flexhouse engineered and distributed over 1,000 heavy-duty, washable, long-life canvas tote bags to partners, clients, and employees (Read the full story). This ongoing initiative directly promotes long-term reuse over disposable packaging.
6. Packaging & Waste Reduction
Packaging optimization is fully integrated into the initial product development phase at Flexhouse, rather than treated as a post-production step.
Key packaging engineering priorities include:
- Eliminating unnecessary plastic packaging and maximizing the use of recyclable corrugated paperboard solutions.
- Optimizing volumetric package dimensions to minimize empty space, improving transport container efficiency and reducing shipping emissions.
- Engineering robust protective solutions that prevent transit damage while minimizing material consumption.
7. Regulatory Readiness (EUDR, PPWR, DPP)
Flexhouse continuously adapts its operations to stay ahead of European regulatory frameworks:
- EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR): We actively maintain timber origin data, species lists, country-of-harvest records, and due diligence documentation to ensure seamless regulatory reference transfer across the supply chain.
- Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR): Packaging specifications are continuously updated to align with upcoming EU recyclability, recycled-content, and material-reduction targets.
- Digital Product Passports (DPP): We are structuring our product data architecture to log item IDs, material compositions, compliance documentation, certifications, and maintenance/repair component data throughout the product lifecycle.
8. Continuous Improvement & Governance
Environmental compliance is an ongoing operational commitment. Flexhouse regularly reviews evolving customer requirements, material innovations, and European standards to drive continuous supply-chain improvement.
